“Ask not for whom the bell tolls, it tolls for thee.”
John Donne
An alarm clock is the dutiful foe of our restfulness; we ally with it in times of darkness to alert us when we are supposed to wake up. Perhaps we want to get to work, or to the airport, or to a family gathering, but what is common is that we set the alarm to give us ample time to prepare for and arrive on time to these activities. My goal with this blog is to be your alarm clock.
I will be the alarm clock that is alerting you to wake up because our American society is about to regress. I will be posting a short essay every Sunday evening and pointing my friends and family to it. You might hit snooze, you might wake for a moment and then fall back asleep, you might choose to mute me and silence this alarm clock entirely, or perhaps you will awaken with enough time to prepare and confront what lies before us.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
